Project Hail Mary ~ Andy Weir

I read this book for the first time last year while on holiday. This is a non planned first contact sci-fi story. I really liked the whole science teacher with a good engineering background thrown into saving the human race trope. You discover the background of the story at the same time as the main character which I like. 1st contact between man and lifeform is an interesting concept with many different ways to do it, and this story fits well in this trope. The way that science and engineering saves the day is of course my favourite with the different ways of seeing (see what I did there?) science and engineering to save both races. It’s an easy to read story and the impeding doom gradually growing in the background makes it an interesting story.
